Mission

In Viewpark Parish Church we believe that God has a job for us to do. We have a mission, an objective; we have work to accomplish. We’re not just a little “bless me” clique where we get together in Church, have a good time, love God and one another, and then go home. No, God has a purpose for us. He has a kingdom to be built. We regard Mission as one of the most important activities in the Church.

The central objective of Mission is of course to encourage people to commit to the Christian faith and get involved in the life of the church.  Our Mission activities are many and varied and include:

  • Messy Breakfast
  • Freedom
  • Study Groups
  • ViewCare
  • Literature distribution to the parish
  • Scripture Union Groups, Chaplaincy and Musical Work in the local primary schools
  • Musical and Social Events which encourage people into the Church buildings, hopefully as a prelude to be coming more deeply involved.

We are constantly striving for new ways to reach out to people in the local community and spread God’s love to all.

“Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Proactive Outreach Project

The Church of Scotland is currently undertaking a process of institutional reform that will transform its governance structures. As part of this, Viewpark Parish Church has recently initiated a Proactive Outreach Project where Viewpark becomes a pioneering outreach mentoring hub. Viewpark staff and volunteers will assist other churches eager to build on their mission but lacking resources, volunteers, encouragement, experience and connections. The Business Case for this project may be viewed here.
