Our friends, Rev Paa Owusu Afriyie Bawua Bonsafo, Mrs Theresa Bawua Bonsafo, Isaac Asante Sampong Nkwatie and Gabriel Wolanyo Nugba, from Kwahu presbytery in Ghana, which Hamilton presbytery is twinned with, joined us for an evening of Scottish Praise on August 30th 2014. We sang familiar hymns to tunes such as ‘my love is like a red, red rose’ and ‘gaelic lullaby’ with poetry and readings of Bible stories as only Scots could write them.
We spent a lovely evening together with some tastes of Scotland – and not a deep fried mars bar in sight. We had haggis and neeps; handmade scones, pancakes, shortbread, dumpling and tablet; oatcakes with cheese plus Tunnocks’ finest tea cakes and caramel wafers and not forgetting Irn bru and a wee dram.
